Home Staging Tip of the Week

When getting your home ready to sell, giving your rooms a fresh coat of paint has a big payoff. HomeGain surveyed 2000 Realtors and statistics show the return on investment for painting interior walls is 150%.

Pick a neutral color palette - this does not have to mean white or beige! Try Benjamin Moore's Adam Gold, Celery Salt and Richmond Gray. Or Sherwin Williams' Divine White, Softened Green and Humble Gold.

Flat and eggshell paint tends to work best when selling -it hides imperfections and dries to a smooth finish.

I think this is one of the least expensive things you can do for a big return. Not only does it lighten and freshen up the rooms as you suggest, but I think you can also use it to mask or eliminate odors.

The previous owners of my place were smokers. But they put fresh paint on the walls and replaced the carpets, and now you'd never know they smoked.

Hi Trav!
They were wise sellers, doing everything they could to show their home in the best light. I'm afraid I would have a hard time buying a home that smelled like smoke

Thanks for stopping by :-)
